The courses offered in the Medical Coding
Certificate program will provide medical
coding students with the necessary
skills for proficiency in all areas of medical
coding including Anatomy and Terminology,
Health Information Management,
Introductory and Advanced Medical
Coding.
Medical Coding is a rapidly expanding
career providing employment opportunities
in hospitals and outpatient health
care facilities nation wide. The large number
of medical facilities throughout the
Boston and surrounding areas provide
great employment opportunities for
medical coders and billing specialists.
Hospitals depend on qualified medical
coders to ensure prompt and accurate
reimbursement. Students completing this
one-year certificate program in medical
coding will have employment opportunities
in hospitals, physician/out patient
facilities, medical billing companies or as
self-employed medical coders or billing
specialists.
Graduates of the Medical Coding Certificate
Program will have the necessary
knowledge to enable them the opportunity
for self study in preparation for entry
level National certification (CCA) through
AHIMA. |
About the Program
Due to the high demand for qualified Medical Coders, Massasoit Community College is pleased to announce their new Medical Coding Certificate Program being offered at the Canton Campus.
The Medical Coding Program is a 6 credit program. Upon completion of the program, students will be qualified to take the CCA national certification exam.

Admissions Requirements
• Complete the Massasoit Insurance Billing Specialist Certificate.
• Submit an Application form to the Admissions Office.
• Submit official High School or GED transcript and official college transcripts.
• Complete Required College Placement Tests in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics.
• Attend required Information Session with the Dean of Allied Health. |
