Dual Enrollment for High School Students

What is Dual Enrollment?
Dual Enrollment may be defined as an arrangement whereby a student still enrolled in high school may enroll in a college course and receive college credit for that course that is also applicable to the high school diploma.

Note:
Students who are first generation college and students majoring in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) will be targeted for the dual enrollment program.

Student Eligibility:
Students who are currently enrolled in Massachusetts public or non-public high schools including approved home schools.

  1. Students currently enrolled in Massachusetts public or non-public high schools including approved home school. *(see note below).
  2. Students must be recommended by high school guidance counselor or other school official.
  3. Students must have a minimum of a “3.0” GPA and in good academic standing.**
  4. Students may enroll in day or evening classes that qualify under the Mass Transfer Block or are part of the curriculum of an approved transfer associate degree program under Mass Transfer.
  5. Students must have written approval by parent or guardian.
  6. Students must take Massasoit’s college placement examination in Reading, Writing and Mathematics and place out of all college preparatory courses and meet all course pre-requisites.
  7. Students must earn both college and high school credit.
Notes: *Students under the age of 16 will also be required to meet criteria for “Youth Learner’s Policy”.

**Students who do not possess the minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA may be considered eligible based upon demonstration of their potential for academic success through review by the Dual Enrollment Coordinator of other appropriate indicators of success, such as steadily improving high school grades, a high class rank, special talent, strong grades in the field of the course and strong recommendations by high school staff.
