Massachusetts Transfer Compact
The Commonwealth Transfer Compact facilitates transfer of Massasoit graduates to junior status into Massachusetts state colleges and universities. The compact provides that Massasoit transfer programs will be transferred as a unit (provided the students meets the admission criteria at the four-year school) and will be applied toward a Bachelor's degree. Requirements Students are eligible for the Transfer Compact by meeting the following criteria:
  1. Complete an Associate Degree with a minimum of 60 credit hours exclusive of developmental coursework
  2. Achieve a cumulative grade point average of not less than 2.0 (in a 4.0 system) at the community college awarding the degree
  3. Complete the following minimum general education courses, exclusive of developmental coursework:
English Composition/Writing 6 credit hours
Behavioral and Social Science 9 credit hours
Humanities and Fine Arts 9 credit hours
Natural or Physical Sciences 8 credit hours
Mathematics 3 credit hours
Total 35 credit hours
The five Massasoit programs which fulfill the Compact are Business Administration Transfer, Human Services Transfer, Criminal Justice Transfer, Liberal Arts Transfer, and Liberal Arts Transfer/Science. Students interested in the Massachusetts Transfer Compact should also become familiar with the Joint Admission program.
Points of Clarification for the Compact
1. Students must graduate from a designated transfer program to receive Compact status.
2. All transfer Compact requirements must be fulfilled prior to enrolling at the four-year institution.
3. State College and University Registrars have the right to require two full years of upper division coursework and the right to require major course requirements for the Bachelor's degree.
4. A grade of "D" can be accepted toward a Bachelor's degree but a "D" will only be applied towards major credit if a native student can use the "D" toward major credit.
5. The Transfer Compact does not guarantee admission to a State College or University.
