Business Administration Careers
The Business Administration Careers (BAC) Program has been designed to allow and encourage the acquisition of specific skills which will enable the student to enter and perform successfully in a wide variety of career paths within business.

The student will attain focus in his or her studies by concentrating in a sequence of courses collectively referred to as an "Option". There are currently five options that exist within the Business Administration Careers Program, four of which follow specific career paths:
Accounting
Hospitality Management
Marketing
Supervisory Management

Students who are uncertain as to which specific career path they wish to follow should select a fifth option:
General Business

Options
The sequencing of specific course requirements within the Business Administration Careers Program allows the student whose career interests change after the first semester to switch options or to switch into the transfer program (Business Administration Transfer) with no risk of having to make up courses.

Students are encouraged to consult with advisors before choosing any option sequence; such a choice is often not made until the end of the student's first semester.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES
The Associate of Science Degree Program in Business Administration-Careers Degree will:    

  • provide students with a challenging program of study, which will supply them with the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the demands and challenges of a complex and competitive world.
  • develop competency in relevant and marketable business skills that include communications, quantitative analysis, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, research and decision-making skills.
  • provide students with a comprehensive overview of business in order to select a career option in accounting, supervisory management, marketing, hospitality management, or general business.
  • introduce students to business careers through a variety of learning experience such as case analysis, simulations, community service, cooperative learning, and internships.
  • enable students to acquire a working knowledge of new technologies available in the information-based economy of the 21st century, and to develop an understanding and appreciation of the role that technology can play in enhancing business operations.
  • provide instruction using current practices and methodologies maximizing the resources and equipment available to the Business Administration Department and the College.
  • foster an attitude of self-improvement, responsibility and professionalism in the graduate and to nurture life-long learning as a core value.

Business Administration Transfer

The  (BAT) Program emphasizes the preparation of business students whose express intention is transferring to a four-year institution. The curriculum of this program is designed to provide the student with a strong foundation in the principles of business administration and liberal arts.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES
The Associate of Science Degree Program in Business Administration Transfer (BAT) will:

  • provide an associate degree program equivalent to the first two years of a baccalaureate degree program.
  • provide students with the academic skills necessary for successful transfer to a senior institution which include a strong foundation in the liberal arts as we as business administration courses.
  • develop competency in relevant and marketable business skills that include communications, quantitative, analysis, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, research and decision-making skills.
  • enable students to acquire a working knowledge of new technologies available in the information-based economy of the 21st century, and to develop an understanding and appreciation of the role that technology can play in enhancing business operations.
  • facilitate the transfer of courses through articulation agreements with senior institutions
  • ensure transferability to state-supported schools in Massachusetts through the Mass Transfer Program.
  • foster an attitude of self-improvement, responsibility and professionalism in the graduate and to nurture life-long learning as a core value.
